On my main blog, I posted about a rather unfortunate spring clothes shopping experience, which reinforced to me why I need to get back in shape.
So while I’m working on that, I’m strictly checking out the spring fashions online (for now) and putting together cute outfits and accessories in my head.
I’ve used Polyvore before to put some cute outfits together but found it to be a bit overwhelming and some pieces I used in my outfits I know I could never afford in real life. Then, I got an email about a similar site that isn’t as overwhelming and has items I can afford. I’m listening! It’s Macy’s Fashion Director Web site, where you can create your own outfit from some of the seasons hottest trends and enter to win a $500 Macy’s gift card.
That would easily help my closet get ready for spring and get me excited to get back in shape :)
I spent about an hour on this site the other night putting together two cute outfits, one with my first summer stable, a dress and a day/night outfit with pants and a fun top. I loved a lot of the choices on the site and I’ll be going to check a few out in person too.

My ultimate summer must-have: my cute short shorts. I used to feel pretty insecure about showing my legs, but my sweetie’s been very encouraging, and I’ve been crazy about wanting to wear short shorts ever since! Love getting some color on my legs!
Totally flip flops. I am completely addicted. I probably have more than 30 pairs. There are ones to go with anything and they are so comfortable. They can be dressed up or dressed down!

In the summer, I live in capris and bright colored T-shirts.
My summer must-have is a whole closet full of comfy cotton dresses. They’re so basic and can be dressed up or dressed down. Throw one on with a pair of flip flops and you’re set. Or add some cute jewelry and some fancier sandals and you’ve got a great evening look! Plus, they are just so much more comfortable than anything else, and more flattering and feminine, too.

I think a go-to neutral or dark denim just-below-the-knee skirt is a must. Dress it up, dress it down.

I’m having dress withdrawals this winter! Summer must have – A bright, summery dress that can be worn with a jean jacket or cardigan while working, but just as fun to grab a drink in with your girlfriends after work!
It’s a toss up between cute flats and nice capri pants. It USED to be flip-flops, but those aren’t really work appropriate so flats in any color are good. I also like capri pants because I HATE when the back of my legs stick to the seat/chair while I’m wearing shorts or dresses.

I’m big on skirts in the summer. Loose, flowy skirts, which help me feel feminine even when I’m sweaty and gross, and which also help cool me off.
My ultimate summer must have is…BALLET FLATS. I’ve already started stocking up so I can wear skinny jeans, plain tanks, and fun ballet flats once it’s warm out.
Summer clothing must have? Capri pants! I hate (HATE) shorts, and for those days where for whatever reason a sundress just won’t cut it, capris are my savior. I’ve had a green cargo-type pair from Old Navy for the past few years and I will wear them until they die because I heart them so much.
